Prof. Suleiman O. Chambo - Board Chairperson

Former Principal of Moshi University College of Co-operative Studies

Currently he does teaching consultancy services
He teaches Economics, Project Planning, Co-operative Management, Economic Policy and Planning, Co-operative Policy Analysis and Research Methods to Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree students.

Institutions he has worked with in these areas include of the Moshi University College of Co-operative and Business Studies and Cork University in Ireland, ICA Africa and ILO Africa.

He provided institutional leadership and policy development and implementation in a higher level academic institution at the Moshi University College of Co-operative and Business Studies as principal of the college where he took responsibility of leading the organizational transformation from an ordinary Diploma level granting college to a university college (1991-2010).

Prof. Valerian C. K. Silayo - Member 

Prof. Silayo holds a B.Sc. Degree in Process Engineering, MSc. in Food Process Engineering, and PhD in Sun Drying of Grains. His area of specialty is Post-harvest Engineering and Management, Food Engineering, and Renewable Energy. His current research is on processing of root crops, soybean processing, and solar drying of fish. Prof Silayo is a member of IET, TSAE, and a registered Professional Engineer with ERB(T).





Dr. Flora I. Tibazara - Member

Flora Ismail Tibazarwa is a plant scientist with an M.Sc. in forest ecology and a Ph.D. in experimental botany with a focus on molecular physiology. She was a lecturer and head of the botany department at the University of Dar es Salaam for two terms (6 years). Flora’s research experience and interests span from project based environmental impact assessment, ecological risk assessment to abiotic stress tolerance in crop and non-crop species. Flora has published her work widely and has supervised several M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates.

Her expertise in ecological risk assessment for genetically modified organisms is recognised within and outside of Tanzania, as she has been a key resource person in trainings for regulators, students and the general public.

In environmental and social impact assessment, Flora has worked and led topical development projects such as the Kihansi Hydropower station where the viviparous Kihansi spray toad Nectophrynoides asperginis was found, the Lake Natron Soda Ash project, Malagarasi Hydropower Project and more recently the Serengeti Highway.

Dr. Flora Ismail Tibazarwa is the Director for Life Sciences, Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology

As the Director for Life Sciences that covers, agriculture, health, biotechnology and environment at the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), she is charged with ensuring that national research priorities and the contribution of life sciences to sustainable development are delivered. She is the secretary to the National Research Registration Committee and the Tanzania Biodiversity Information Facility. Flora is responsible for ensuring outputs of research and innovations are communicated, commercialised and taken to scale. Furthermore in COSTECH's work to promote the utilisation of science, technology, and innovation, she facilitates implementation of pilot projects such as the Water Efficient Maize for Africa project to ensure evidence is used in acquisition of emerging technologies such as biotechnology.

Flora is responsible at the directorate level to mobilise resources for research and innovation and works closely with development partners such as DFID, Sida, Danida and the governments of South Africa and South Korea to deliver this.

Prof. Siza D. Tumbo - Member / Director General of CAMARTEC

Prof. Tumbo Holds a BSc. in Agricultural Engineering from Sokoine University of Agriculture
( 1991), MSc in Light Current Engineering from University of Dar-es-Salaam (1996) and PhD in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University (2000). His area of specialty is Bio-systems Information, Computing and Automation. He has done several researches on Precision Farming, Adoption of Water System Innovations, and Smallholder Water System Innovations. He was also the Director of Computer Centre at SUA for the period of July, 2006 to June, 2009. His research interests are on Modelling and Simulation of Agricultural and Engineering Systems; Development and Use of Decision Support and Intelligent Systems; Electronic Instrumentation, Automation, Measurement and Control; Social and Economic Research for Improved Uptake and Up scaling of Technologies; General Agricultural and Natural Resources Engineering Related Researches. Prof. Siza is a member of ASABE, TSAE, and IET.
